They can be reached by dialing 2-1-1 or by dialing 613-761-9076.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What does a hamper include?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Each hamper is to include small gifts of between $25 to $40 appropriate for each member on the hamper recipient list. It will also include a gift card so the recipients are able to purchase needed supplies and food.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>How can I help out?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Christmas Hamper Project has something for everyone:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.centretownunited.org\/index.php\/adopt-a-hamper\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Adopt a hamper (Donate a hamper)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(Gift Cards amounts, specific needs and general information about the recipients will be provided for the purpose of purchasing gifts).<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Help label, organize and carry hampers for a two hour period on Thursday December 18<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Deliver hampers on Saturday December 20<sup>th<\/sup>; it is typically a two hour commitment.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Donate cash to cover the cost of supplies<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>(Please send a cheque made out to\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Centretown United Church&#8221;<\/strong>, 507 Bank Street, K2P 1Z5 indicating it is for the &#8220;Christmas Hamper Project&#8221;. You can also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadahelps.org\/en\/dn\/76348\"><strong>donate online<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadahelps.org\/en\/dn\/76348\"><strong>clicking here<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and selecting the &#8220;Christmas Hampers Project&#8221; in the drop-down menu.)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>If I donate a hamper, what is the value of the Gift Cards that will need to be purchased?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Single Adult: $100<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Small Family (up to 5 members): $150<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Large Families (more than 5 members): $200<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Group Homes (10 adults): $250<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What kind of gifts should I include in the hamper?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Some ideas for what to include in a hamper:\u00a0<\/span><\/div><div class=\"gmail_default\"><ul><li><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Warm hat, gloves, mittens and scarf; also, warm socks. This suggestion is for both adults and children.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Gift ideas for children: Age appropriate toys, books, puzzles, games, colouring books and art supplies, pyjamas. <\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Warm blanket\/ throw; toiletries; chocolate and snacks\/ treats. <\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A gift card for Shoppers or Walmart.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I have some gently used toys\u00a0 (decorations, bedding, clothing, etc.).\u00a0 Can I add those?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The hampers are gifts from you to the recipients.\u00a0 It is not usually considered appropriate to give used items as gifts, particularly to people you don\u2019t know.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Can I deliver the hamper myself?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is important to keep the anonymity and privacy of the recipients and one way of doing this is to have separate volunteers deliver the hampers.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I am a hamper adopter, can I drop off the hamper early on Thursday (the 20<sup>th<\/sup>)?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">No, the sorting of hampers and gift cards requires a lot of preparation and the logistics are quite complicated. The additional confusion will make it challenging for all involved.<\/span><\/p><div><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>I am a hamper adopter, can I receive a tax receipt for my <span style=\"color: #000000;\">contribution?\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We offer tax receipts for the <b>grocery<\/b>\u00a0<b>gift card\u00a0portion of the hampers<\/b>.
