A Brief history of Centretown United
1925 - The Methodist Church, Canada, The Congregational Union of Ontario and Quebec, 2/3 of the congregations of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, and The Association of Local Union Churches merge into the United Church of Canada www.united-church.ca
1961 McLeod United and Stewarton United amalgamate to become McLeod-Stewarton United (MSUC)
2008 Bell Street United joins McLeod-Stewarton United becoming Centretown United
Our congregations helped found:
1978 The Centretown Emergency Food Centre (now Centretown Community Food Centre)
1982 the Daybreak Non-Profit Shelter (Ecumenical) Corporation
1983 Centret 507; adult drop-in centre
1985, the Dalhousie Food Cupboard (now the Dalhousie Food Action Group)
1989 the Centretown Laundry Co-op (now the Community Laundry Co-op)
